Indoor Condensate Drainage Failure
Water leaking from indoor unit front panel or dripping on wall
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain hose, Algae or sludge in drain pan, Improper indoor unit tilt (not sloped to drain side), Cracked drain pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the unit and protect floors and electronics from water.
Steps:
- Check drain hose routing: Ensure the hose slopes downward continuously and is not lifted above the drain pan outlet.
- Clear blockage: Use a wet/dry vacuum at the hose outlet to remove sludge. Repeat until water flows freely.
- Clean drain pan: Open the indoor unit lower cover (if accessible) and remove debris and slime from the pan.
- Verify unit level: Use a spirit level to confirm the unit is slightly tilted toward the drain side. Adjust mounting if necessary.
If leakage continues: The drain pan may be cracked or misaligned and may need replacement or reinstallation.
