Possible Causes
Worn blower motor bearings, Debris in blower wheel, Misaligned blower wheel, Dry or damaged motor shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Moving parts can cause injury.
Steps:
- Access blower: Remove the front cover and filter to expose the indoor blower wheel and motor.
- Inspect for debris: Remove any foreign objects (plastic, paper, insulation) caught in the blower.
- Spin test: Rotate the blower by hand. Roughness, grinding, or side-to-side play indicates bearing wear.
- Lubrication (if applicable): Some motors are permanently lubricated and cannot be serviced. If your motor has oil ports, add a few drops of light machine oil.
- Replace motor: If noise persists, replace the indoor fan motor and, if worn, the blower wheel with Honeywell-compatible parts.
