Possible Causes

Faulty indoor fan motor with feedback sensor, Loose fan motor connector, Defective main control board fan driver

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before working near the fan or control board.

Steps:

  • Check fan operation: With the grille removed, spin the indoor blower wheel by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping. If stiff or noisy, the motor or bearings may be failing.
  • Inspect fan motor wiring: Locate the indoor fan motor harness and ensure the connector is fully seated on the main PCB. Look for burnt or discolored pins.
  • Clean blower and housing: Dust buildup can overload the motor. Carefully vacuum or brush the blower wheel and surrounding housing.
  • Test in FAN mode: Reassemble, power on, and run in FAN-only mode. If E7 appears and the fan does not start or runs erratically, the motor is likely faulty.
  • Replace motor if needed: Remove the blower assembly and install a new Hotpoint indoor fan motor, transferring the blower wheel if required. Ensure correct wiring and secure mounting.

Note: If a new motor does not resolve E7, the main control PCB may need replacement.
