Possible Causes

Failed room thermistor, Sensor shorted by moisture, Loose connection at main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing internal components.

Steps:

  • Locate ambient sensor: As with E1, find the room temperature sensor near the air intake behind the front grille.
  • Check for moisture: If the unit has been operating in very humid conditions, inspect the sensor and connector for condensation or corrosion. Dry gently with a cloth and allow time to air dry.
  • Inspect wiring: Look for damaged insulation or pulled wires. Reseat the connector on the main PCB.
  • Test and replace: Measure resistance and compare to expected values. Replace with a Hotpoint ambient thermistor if readings are abnormal.

Note: If F1 persists with a new sensor, the main control PCB may be faulty.
