Possible Causes
Open winding in indoor fan motor, Jammed blower wheel, Faulty fan capacitor (if used), Loose motor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working near moving parts.
Steps:
- Check for obstructions: Remove the front grille and inspect the blower wheel for foreign objects (plastic, insulation, debris). Remove any obstructions.
- Spin test: Rotate the blower wheel by hand. If it is stiff or grinding, the motor bearings may be failing.
- Inspect wiring: Locate the indoor fan motor connector on the PCB and ensure it is fully seated. Check for burnt or loose terminals.
- Capacitor (if present): Some models use a separate fan capacitor. Inspect for bulging or leaks and replace with the correct Hotpoint fan capacitor if suspect.
- Replace motor: If the motor does not run even with correct voltage and a good capacitor, replace the indoor fan motor.
Note: Motor replacement may require partial disassembly of the chassis; follow the service manual if available.
