Possible Causes
Room temperature below operating range, Ambient sensor misreading low, Control board logic preventing compressor start
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: H1 on many Hotpoint units is informational, indicating that the room is too cold for cooling mode.
Steps:
- Check room temperature: If the room is already cool (e.g., below 18°C / 64°F), the unit may intentionally prevent compressor operation.
- Change mode: Try switching to FAN or HEAT (if heat pump model) as appropriate.
- Sensor check: If the room is warm but H1 appears, inspect the ambient thermistor for proper placement and operation as described for E1/F1.
Technician help: If H1 appears incorrectly and the sensor is good, the main control PCB may require replacement.
