Possible Causes
Dead remote batteries, Obstructed IR receiver window, Faulty IR receiver board on unit, Defective remote
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Steps:
- Replace batteries: Install fresh, correctly oriented batteries in the Hotpoint remote.
- Check line of sight: Ensure there is a clear path between the remote and the unit's IR receiver window on the front panel.
- Test remote: Point the remote at a smartphone camera; pressing buttons should show a flashing light on the remote's IR LED in the camera view. If not, replace the remote control.
- Inspect IR receiver: If the remote works but the unit does not respond, the IR receiver board or main PCB may be faulty. Access the front panel and check the small IR receiver module and its wiring.
Repair: Replace the IR receiver board if damaged; otherwise, the main control PCB may need replacement.
