Possible Causes
Improper installation or support, Unbalanced fan blade or blower wheel, Loose mounting brackets, Compressor mounting grommets worn
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Steps:
- Check installation: Ensure the window unit is securely mounted with the supplied Hotpoint brackets and side panels. Add shims if the chassis is not level or is flexing.
- Tighten brackets: Tighten all mounting screws and brackets securing the unit to the window frame or wall sleeve.
- Inspect fans: Check indoor blower and outdoor fan for missing pieces or heavy dirt buildup on one side, which can unbalance them. Clean or replace the blower wheel / fan blade if damaged.
- Compressor mounts: With power off, inspect rubber grommets under the compressor. If cracked or missing, have a technician replace the compressor mounting grommets.
Note: Some vibration is normal, but it should not be excessive or cause structural noise.
