Possible Causes
Normal protection delay after mode change, Very low indoor temperature, Control board waiting for coil to warm/cool before starting compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: On many Insignia units, H1 is an informational code, not a fault.
Steps:
- 1. Wait: Allow 3–5 minutes for the unit to complete its protection delay. The compressor should start automatically once conditions are safe.
- 2. Check mode and setpoint: Ensure the unit is in the correct mode (HEAT if applicable, or COOL) and that the set temperature is appropriate.
- 3. Power reset: If H1 remains indefinitely and the compressor never starts, unplug the unit for 10 minutes, then restart.
- 4. Further diagnosis: If the compressor never engages despite correct settings and adequate time, treat as a compressor start/control issue and consult a technician.
