Possible Causes
Blocked upper drain path, Kinked or improperly installed drain hose, Faulty upper float switch or sensor, Excessive condensate due to very high humidity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before draining or opening panels.
Steps to address P2:
- 1. Drain both ports: Some Insignia portable models have upper and lower drain ports. Drain water from both to fully empty the system.
- 2. Inspect drain hose (if used): Ensure any attached drain hose slopes downward continuously with no kinks or loops that can trap water.
- 3. Clean internal tray: Remove the rear panel and locate the upper condensate tray. Clean out any buildup that could block the drain outlet.
- 4. Check upper float/sensor: Verify that the upper float moves freely and that its wiring is intact. Replace the float switch if it remains in the “full” position even when the tray is empty.
- 5. Test operation: Reassemble, restore power, and run the unit in COOL mode. If P2 reappears quickly, further inspection of the internal drain routing or sensor circuit on the main PCB may be required.
