Possible Causes
Heavily clogged air filter, Dirty evaporator coil, Blower wheel packed with dust, Failing indoor fan motor or incorrect fan speed control from PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning or accessing the blower.
Steps to restore airflow:
- 1. Clean or replace filter: Remove and thoroughly clean the filter. Replace if it is damaged or does not come clean.
- 2. Clean evaporator coil: Remove the front cover and gently clean the coil fins with a soft brush or coil cleaner.
- 3. Inspect blower wheel: Check the indoor blower for dust buildup between the fins. Clean carefully with a brush and vacuum.
- 4. Check fan speeds: After cleaning, power the unit and cycle through fan speeds. If the motor does not change speed or is very slow, the motor or control board may be faulty.
- 5. Replace fan motor if needed: If the motor is weak or noisy, install a new Insignia indoor fan motor.
