Unit operates normally but the display shows an obviously incorrect room temperature (e.g., 50°F when room is 75°F).

Safety first: Unplug the unit before moving sensors.

Steps:

• 1. Compare with a thermometer: Place an accurate room thermometer near the unit and compare readings.
• 2. Check sensor location: Ensure the room sensor is not directly in the cold air stream or near electronics that generate heat. Reposition slightly if possible.
• 3. Inspect sensor: Check for physical damage or corrosion on the thermistor and its wiring.
• 4. Replace sensor: If readings are far off, install a new Insignia room temperature thermistor.
• 5. Board replacement: If a new sensor does not correct the reading, the main PCB may be miscalibrated and require replacement.
