Possible Causes

Failed indoor blower motor, Faulty blower motor capacitor (for PSC motors), Loose blower wiring harness, Faulty indoor control board fan relay or ECM module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power to the air handler or furnace at the breaker. The blower compartment may contain sharp metal edges.

  • Step 1 – Check filter and wheel: Remove the blower access panel. Verify the blower wheel is not packed with dust or debris and can spin freely by hand.
  • Step 2 – Inspect wiring: Check the blower motor plug or wiring harness for loose connections or burnt terminals. Reseat connectors firmly.
  • Step 3 – Capacitor test (PSC motors): If your Keeprite uses a PSC blower motor, inspect the blower capacitor for bulging or leaks. Replace with the same µF and voltage rating if suspect.
  • Step 4 – ECM module (ECM motors): For ECM motors, ensure the module is firmly attached and the low-voltage control plug is seated. ECM diagnostics usually require a technician.
  • Step 5 – Motor test: If the motor hums but does not start, or does not run at all with correct voltage present, the motor is likely failed and should be replaced.
