Possible Causes
Failed condenser fan motor, Faulty fan capacitor, Obstructed fan blade, Loose wiring at fan motor or contactor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the outdoor disconnect. Do not attempt to spin the fan with power on.
- Step 1 – Inspect fan blade: Remove the top grille if needed. Check that the fan blade is not rubbing on the shroud and spins freely by hand.
- Step 2 – Check capacitor: Locate the dual run capacitor. If bulged or leaking, replace it with a new capacitor of the same ratings.
- Step 3 – Wiring check: Verify all fan motor wires are securely connected to the capacitor and contactor per the Keeprite wiring diagram.
- Step 4 – Motor test: Restore power and call for cooling. If the compressor runs but the fan does not start, shut power off immediately to avoid compressor damage. The fan motor is likely failed and should be replaced.
- Step 5 – Replace fan motor: Match the replacement motor to the original Keeprite specifications (HP, RPM, voltage, rotation, shaft size). Transfer the fan blade carefully and balance it.
