Possible Causes
Worn blower motor bearings, Loose blower wheel on shaft, Debris in blower housing, Bent blower wheel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Blower wheels can start unexpectedly if power is restored.
- Step 1 – Access blower: Remove the blower compartment panel.
- Step 2 – Inspect wheel: Check that the blower wheel is centered and not rubbing on the housing. Tighten the set screw on the motor shaft.
- Step 3 – Clean housing: Vacuum out dust and debris that may be contacting the wheel.
- Step 4 – Check bearings: Spin the wheel by hand. If it grinds or has excessive play, the motor bearings are worn and the motor should be replaced.
