• Step 1 – Filter and coil cleaning: Replace the air filter. Clean both indoor evaporator and outdoor condenser coils as described earlier.
• Step 2 – Check airflow: Ensure all registers are open and ducts are not crushed or disconnected in accessible areas.
• Step 3 – Temperature check: Measure temperature at a return grille and nearest supply grille. A typical split system should show about 16–22°F (9–12°C) drop under normal conditions.
• Step 4 – Professional evaluation: If coils are clean and airflow is good but cooling is still weak, a technician should check refrigerant charge, duct static pressure, and system sizing.
