Possible Causes

Blown low-voltage fuse on indoor board, Broken common (C) wire, Loose R or C connections at thermostat, Faulty transformer

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power to the indoor unit before accessing the control board.

  • Step 1 – Check thermostat batteries: Replace batteries if your thermostat uses them.
  • Step 2 – Inspect low-voltage fuse: On the indoor control board, replace a blown 3–5A fuse once. If it blows again, there is a short that needs professional attention.
  • Step 3 – Check wiring at thermostat: Ensure R and C wires are firmly attached and not touching other terminals.
  • Step 4 – Transformer check: A technician should measure 24V output from the transformer. If absent, the transformer must be replaced.
