Possible Causes
Damaged signal wire, incorrect terminal connections, electrical noise interference, failed indoor or outdoor main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off all power before accessing wiring.
Steps:
- Confirm wiring order: Compare the indoor and outdoor terminal blocks. Ensure each numbered or labeled terminal is wired identically at both ends.
- Check cable type: Kelvinator recommends a multi-core cable of appropriate gauge. Replace any undersized or non-rated cable.
- Inspect for joints: Avoid splices in the communication cable. If present, ensure they are properly insulated and mechanically secure.
- Separate from power cables: Ensure the communication cable is not tightly bundled with high-voltage power cables, which can induce noise.
- Test continuity: With power OFF, use a multimeter to check continuity of each conductor from indoor to outdoor unit.
- PCB diagnosis: If wiring is good, a technician should test the indoor and outdoor PCBs and replace the faulty board.
