Possible Causes
Incorrect evaporator sensor reading, sensor not in correct position, firmware calibration issue, indoor PCB fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working on the indoor unit.
Steps:
- Verify sensor placement: Ensure the evaporator thermistor is in the correct factory position on the coil and not relocated.
- Check insulation: Some models require the sensor to be insulated from ambient air; restore any missing insulation sleeves.
- Clean coil: A heavily iced or dirty coil can cause abnormal readings. Clean the coil with a suitable coil cleaner and allow it to thaw completely.
- Replace sensor or PCB: If F9 persists, replace the evaporator sensor; if still unresolved, the indoor PCB may need replacement.
