Possible Causes
Dirty filters or coils, undersized AC for room, refrigerant undercharge, air leaks in room, incorrect thermostat sensor placement
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Steps:
- Clean filters and coils: Wash filters and ensure indoor and outdoor coils are clean.
- Check airflow: Make sure all supply louvers are open and not blocked by furniture or curtains.
- Close room: Close doors and windows to prevent hot air infiltration.
- Verify setpoint: Set the temperature at least 4–6°C below room temperature and allow sufficient time for cooling.
- Sensor location: Ensure the indoor unit is not installed in a hot corner or directly above heat sources, which can mislead the sensor.
Technician tasks: If performance remains poor, have a technician check refrigerant charge and system capacity versus room size.
