If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the AC and isolate power before removing covers. Be prepared for water spillage.
Steps:
- Check filters: Remove and clean filters; heavy dirt can cause coil icing and overflow.
- Inspect drain tray: Remove the front panel and look at the drain tray under the evaporator coil. Clear visible debris.
- Flush drain line: Locate the drain pipe outlet outside. Use a wet/dry vacuum to suck out blockages from the end of the pipe, or gently flush with water from the indoor side if accessible.
- Verify slope: Ensure the drain hose slopes continuously downward from the indoor unit to the outlet, with no upward loops.
- Check for cracks: If water still leaks from the unit body, inspect the plastic drain pan for cracks; replacement may be required.
Note: For high-wall Kelvinator units, accessing the full drain pan may require partial removal of the indoor unit from the wall; consider a technician if unsure.
