Possible Causes
Failed condenser NTC sensor, sensor not in contact with condenser, damaged sensor wiring, defective main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the Klarstein air conditioner. Allow the unit to cool before touching the condenser area.
Steps:
- Access condenser: On portable units, remove the rear panel to access the hot-side condenser coil. On split units, access the outdoor unit coil.
- Find the sensor: The condenser NTC sensor is usually clipped to the condenser tubing or fins near the middle or discharge side.
- Check attachment: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped or taped to the copper tube or fins. Re-secure if loose using metal clip or aluminum tape.
- Inspect cable: Follow the sensor wires back to the PCB. Look for chafing, burns, or loose connectors. Reseat the connector.
- Measure resistance: With power off and sensor disconnected, measure resistance. If it reads open or near zero, replace the sensor.
- Replace sensor: Install a new Klarstein condenser NTC sensor, matching connector type. Route wiring away from fan blades and hot compressor surfaces.
- Control board: If E3 persists with a new sensor, the main control PCB is likely faulty and should be replaced by a technician.
