Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain channel, blocked drain hose, unit not level, cracked drain pan, excessive humidity beyond design
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before tilting or opening. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination.
Steps:
- Level check: Ensure the unit is level (or slightly tilted toward the drain outlet for window units) using a spirit level.
- Drain cleaning: Remove the front/rear cover to access the condensate tray and drain outlet. Use a flexible brush or pipe cleaner to clear slime and debris from the drain hole and channel.
- Flush drain: Pour a small amount of warm water mixed with a little vinegar through the drain channel to flush it out. Catch water at the drain outlet.
- Drain hose: If a hose is attached, disconnect and blow through it or flush with water to remove clogs. Ensure it slopes downward with no kinks.
- Inspect pan: Check the plastic drain pan for cracks. If cracked, replace the pan or seal temporarily with waterproof epoxy (replacement is preferred).
