Possible Causes

Dirty or blocked indoor air filter, Low refrigerant charge causing coil icing, Faulty indoor evaporator temperature sensor (T2), Indoor fan motor running too slow or not at all

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the unit at the breaker before cleaning or opening panels.

  • Step 1 – Clean filters: Open the front panel of the Klimaire indoor unit and remove the air filters. Wash with mild soap and water, rinse thoroughly, and let dry completely before reinstalling.
  • Step 2 – Check airflow: Ensure supply and return air are not blocked by furniture, curtains, or covers. Verify louvers can move freely.
  • Step 3 – Inspect evaporator coil: With power OFF, gently lift the front panel and visually inspect the evaporator coil. If it is iced over, leave the unit OFF until all ice melts. Then restart in FAN mode for 30 minutes to dry the coil.
  • Step 4 – Test indoor fan operation: Turn the unit ON in FAN-only mode. Confirm the indoor fan runs smoothly at all speeds. If the fan is slow, noisy, or not starting, the fan motor or capacitor may be failing.
  • Step 5 – Sensor check: Locate the evaporator temperature sensor clipped to the coil. Ensure it is firmly attached and not dislodged. If E2 persists, the sensor may be out of range and should be replaced with a Klimaire-compatible T2 sensor.
  • Step 6 – Refrigerant check (pro only): If airflow is good and the sensor is OK but the coil still freezes, the system may be low on refrigerant. A licensed HVAC technician must check pressures and repair any leaks.
