Possible Causes

Clogged indoor air filter restricting airflow, Blocked return air or closed supply louvers, Dirty indoor evaporator coil, Faulty indoor ambient or coil temperature sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF power before cleaning or opening the unit.

  • Step 1 – Clean filters: Remove and wash the indoor air filters thoroughly. Let them dry completely before reinstalling.
  • Step 2 – Check airflow paths: Ensure nothing is blocking the front of the indoor unit. Open all louvers and make sure curtains or furniture are not obstructing airflow.
  • Step 3 – Inspect and clean coil: With the front panel open, inspect the evaporator coil. If heavily coated with dust, use a soft brush or coil cleaner designed for mini-splits. Avoid bending fins.
  • Step 4 – Sensor inspection: Verify that the indoor ambient and coil sensors are properly positioned and secured. Damaged or dislodged sensors can misread temperature and trigger E8.
  • Step 5 – Reset and test: After cleaning, power the unit back on and monitor operation. If E8 returns, the sensor or indoor PCB may need replacement.
