Possible Causes
Sensor drift out of calibration, partially failed thermistor, control board misreading sensor, wiring resistance issues
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing any covers.
Steps to address F1:
- 1. Compare temperatures: Use a separate room thermometer to compare the displayed temperature to actual room temperature. Large discrepancies support a sensor issue.
- 2. Inspect room sensor: Remove the front grille and locate the room thermistor near the air intake. Ensure it is not touching cold metal surfaces and is positioned in the airflow.
- 3. Clean dust: Gently clean dust from around the sensor and intake area to ensure accurate sensing.
- 4. Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the control board and reseat the connector.
- 5. Replace sensor: If the sensor is out of spec or F1 persists, replace the room temperature sensor with a Koldfront-compatible part.
- 6. Board replacement: If a new sensor does not resolve F1, the main control board may require replacement.
