Possible Causes

Internal condensate tank full, blocked drain hose, float switch stuck, unit not properly leveled

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the unit off and unplug it before draining water.

Steps to clear P1:

  • 1. Move to a drain area: Carefully roll or carry the portable unit to a location where water spillage will not cause damage.
  • 2. Drain the tank: Locate the lower drain plug or cap at the back/bottom of the unit. Place a shallow pan or tray under it and remove the plug to let water drain completely.
  • 3. Check float switch: After draining, gently rock the unit to ensure the internal float is not stuck. Some models allow access to the float switch through a small panel; check for obstructions.
  • 4. Inspect drain hose (if used): If you use continuous drainage, verify the hose is not kinked, elevated above the drain outlet, or clogged.
  • 5. Reinstall plug and test: Replace the drain plug securely, plug the unit back in, and restart. P1 should clear.
  • 6. Level the unit: Ensure the portable AC is on a level surface so condensate flows correctly to the tank or drain.
