Possible Causes
Blocked base pan drain, unit installed without proper drip edge, excessive condensate due to high humidity, rusted or cracked base pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing it from the sleeve or window.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect base pan: Slide the chassis out of the wall sleeve or remove the window unit to inspect the metal base pan where condensate collects.
- 2. Clear drain openings: Locate and clear any drain holes or weep slots in the base pan.
- 3. Check for rust or cracks: If the base pan is rusted through or cracked, it may need repair (rust treatment and sealant) or replacement.
- 4. Reinstall with proper pitch: Ensure the unit is pitched slightly downward to the outside so water does not pool against the wall.
