Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain channel, unit not tilted slightly to the outside, blocked drain hole, excessive condensate in high humidity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the unit before working around water and internal parts.
Steps to stop indoor leaks:
- 1. Check unit tilt: For window and through-the-wall units, ensure the unit is slightly tilted downward toward the outside so water flows outdoors.
- 2. Clean drain channel: Remove the front cover and locate the condensate pan and drain channel at the bottom of the evaporator. Clear any slime, dirt, or debris with a brush or pipe cleaner.
- 3. Clear drain hole: Use a small plastic probe or compressed air to clear the drain hole leading to the outdoor side.
- 4. Inspect foam seals: Ensure internal foam baffles and seals are in place so water is directed to the pan and not into the room.
- 5. High humidity: In very humid conditions, run the unit on a lower fan speed to allow more water to drain and consider using an additional dehumidifier.
