Possible Causes
Failed coil thermistor, Sensor not properly attached to coil, Damaged sensor wiring, Control board sensor input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the indoor unit before accessing the coil compartment.
- 1. Locate coil sensor: The sensor is usually clipped to the refrigerant tubing entering or leaving the evaporator coil.
- 2. Check attachment: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped and making good contact with the copper tube. Reattach or secure with thermal paste and a cable tie if loose.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Look for nicks, cuts, or pinched sections in the sensor leads. Repair or replace as needed.
- 4. Replace sensor: If the sensor is cracked or readings are clearly wrong, install a new Lennox coil temperature sensor.
Note: This sensor helps prevent freeze-up and overheating; do not operate the system with it disconnected.
