Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the indoor unit cover. Rotating parts and live circuits can be dangerous.
Steps:
- Visual inspection: Remove the front panel and filters. Check if the blower wheel spins freely by hand. Remove any foreign objects (plastic, insulation, debris).
- Check fan motor wiring: Access the fan motor connector on the indoor PCB. Ensure it is fully seated and that no pins are bent or corroded.
- Clean the blower: Heavy dust buildup can overload the motor. Carefully brush or vacuum the blower wheel and surrounding area.
- Test operation: Restore power briefly and command the fan to run (FAN mode). Observe if the fan starts smoothly. If it hums or stalls, turn power off immediately.
- Replace fan motor if needed: If the motor does not run or runs erratically despite free rotation and good wiring, replace the LG indoor fan motor assembly. This usually involves removing the blower wheel and motor bracket.
- Reassemble: After replacement, ensure all wiring is secured and no wires can contact the spinning blower. Refit covers and filters.
Call a technician if: You are not comfortable removing the blower assembly or if CH09 persists after motor replacement, as the indoor PCB may be faulty.
