Possible Causes
Dead remote batteries, Obstructed IR sensor on indoor unit, Failed IR receiver board, Remote control malfunction
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No high-voltage work is needed for basic checks, but turn off power if removing covers.
Steps:
- Replace batteries: Install fresh, correct-type batteries in the LG remote. Ensure polarity is correct.
- Check line of sight: Remove any objects blocking the path between remote and indoor unit. Stand within 5–7 meters.
- Test remote: Point the remote at a smartphone camera and press a button; you should see the IR LED flash on the screen. If not, the remote may be faulty.
- Clean IR window: Wipe the IR receiver window on the indoor unit with a soft cloth.
Technician involvement: If the remote works (IR flashes) but the unit does not respond, the IR receiver board or indoor PCB may need replacement.
