Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain line, Improper indoor unit leveling, Disconnected or cracked drain hose, Frozen indoor coil due to airflow or refrigerant issues
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before opening the indoor unit. Be prepared for water spillage.
Steps:
- Check filters: Dirty filters can cause coil icing and overflow. Clean filters thoroughly.
- Inspect drain pan: Remove the front cover and look at the drain pan under the coil. If full of water, the drain is likely blocked.
- Clear drain line: Locate the drain hose outlet outside or at the building drain. Use a wet/dry vacuum to suck out clogs from the outlet. You may also gently blow air from the indoor side if accessible.
- Check unit level: Use a small level to ensure the indoor unit is slightly tilted toward the drain side. Adjust mounting if necessary.
- Inspect hose connections: Ensure the drain hose is firmly attached to the pan spigot and not kinked or cracked.
Technician involvement: If leaks persist or if the coil repeatedly ices over, a technician should check refrigerant charge and airflow in more detail.
