Possible Causes
Low refrigerant charge due to leak, Restricted indoor airflow (dirty filter or coil), Frozen evaporator coil, Faulty low‑pressure switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before opening panels. Refrigerant work must be done by an EPA‑certified technician.
- Check and replace air filter: Locate the return air filter in the air handler or return grille. Replace if dirty or clogged. Luxaire systems are very sensitive to low airflow.
- Inspect indoor coil for ice: Remove the blower/coil access panel. If the Luxaire evaporator coil is iced over, leave the system off and set the thermostat to FAN ON only for 2–3 hours to thaw.
- Check supply and return vents: Ensure all registers and returns are open and not blocked by furniture or rugs.
- Look for signs of refrigerant leak: Oil stains on copper lines, at the Luxaire TXV, or at braze joints indicate a leak. Do not attempt to recharge yourself.
- Call a technician: A pro should pressure‑test the system, repair leaks (often at the evaporator coil or service valves), evacuate, and recharge to Luxaire specifications.
