Possible Causes
Failed compressor contactor, Open compressor winding, Loose high‑voltage wiring, Faulty outdoor PCB relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: High voltage present. Turn off the disconnect and breaker. Use a meter only if you are trained.
- Inspect contactor: Remove the condenser access panel. Locate the Luxaire contactor. Look for burnt, pitted contacts or a melted coil. If damaged, replace with an identical contactor (same coil voltage and amp rating).
- Check wiring tightness: Tighten all lugs on the line and load sides of the contactor and on the compressor terminals (if accessible). Look for discoloration or melted insulation.
- Test coil voltage (advanced): With power restored and a call for cooling, measure voltage across the contactor coil. If proper voltage is present but the contactor does not pull in, replace it. If no voltage, the outdoor board or low‑voltage circuit may be at fault.
- Compressor continuity (advanced): With power off and wires removed, check compressor windings with an ohmmeter. Open windings indicate a failed compressor requiring professional replacement.
