Possible Causes
Outdoor coil temperature sensor reading low, Normal defrost operation (in heat mode), Sensor misplacement on coil
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: On Luxaire heat pumps, H1 can indicate defrost operation and may not be a fault if occurring in heating mode.
- Confirm operating mode: If the system is in HEAT and outdoor conditions are cold, brief H1 indications can be normal.
- Check coil sensor: If H1 appears in cooling mode or excessively, inspect the outdoor coil sensor for proper placement and secure attachment to the coil.
- Replace faulty sensor: If the sensor is damaged, replace it with the correct Luxaire coil thermistor.
- Call technician if frequent: Repeated or prolonged H1 in cooling mode may indicate control board or sensor calibration issues requiring professional service.
