Possible Causes
Weak transformer, Short in thermostat wiring, Loose low‑voltage connections, Faulty float switch in condensate line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the air handler before working on low‑voltage wiring.
- Inspect thermostat cable: Look for staples driven through the cable, rodent damage, or bare wires touching metal.
- Check float switch: If your Luxaire air handler has a condensate safety (float) switch, ensure the drain pan is not full and the switch is not tripped. Clear the drain if needed.
- Tighten low‑voltage connections: At the air handler and condenser, tighten R, C, Y, G, and other low‑voltage terminals.
- Transformer test (advanced): A technician can measure 24V output under load and replace the transformer if weak.
