Possible Causes
Shorted compressor, Shorted condenser fan motor, Failing start or run capacitor, Loose or shorted wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not repeatedly reset a breaker that trips; this is a fire risk. Turn the breaker off and investigate.
- Visual inspection: With power off, open the Luxaire condenser panel and look for burnt wires, melted insulation, or obvious shorts to the cabinet.
- Check capacitor: Replace any bulged or leaking capacitors.
- Fan motor test: Try spinning the fan blade by hand. If stiff or seized, the motor may be shorted and should be replaced.
- Call a technician: A pro should test compressor windings and insulation resistance. A shorted compressor usually requires compressor or unit replacement.
