Possible Causes
Failed ECM or PSC blower motor, Blower run capacitor failure (PSC motors), Faulty indoor control board fan relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the air handler at the breaker.
- Listen for motor: With a call for cooling, if you hear a hum but no airflow, the blower may be stuck or capacitor may be bad.
- Inspect blower wheel: Remove blower access panel. Check that the Luxaire blower wheel spins freely by hand and is not obstructed by insulation or debris.
- Check capacitor (PSC): If your blower uses a capacitor, inspect it for bulging or leaks. Replace with the exact µF and voltage rating.
- ECM motors: For ECM blowers, check the plug connections. If secure and motor still does not run, the ECM module or motor assembly likely needs replacement by a technician.
