Possible Causes
Blocked indoor fan wheel, Failed DC indoor fan motor, Faulty fan motor hall sensor, Loose fan motor connector on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the breaker and ensure the fan has stopped completely before working near the blower.
Steps:
- Check for obstructions: Remove the front panel and filters. Inspect the cross-flow fan (drum) for debris, ice, or foreign objects. Remove any obstruction carefully.
- Spin test: Gently rotate the fan by hand. It should spin freely without grinding or binding. If stiff, check for misaligned end bearings or warped plastic.
- Inspect wiring: Locate the indoor fan motor connector on the PCB and ensure it is fully seated. Check the motor harness for damage.
- Power test (advanced): With power ON and the unit calling for fan operation, a technician can measure DC voltage to the motor and check for hall sensor feedback. Lack of rotation with correct voltage indicates a failed motor.
- Replace fan motor: If the motor is seized or does not run even with proper voltage, replace the indoor DC fan motor assembly specific to your Mitsubishi Electric model.
