Possible Causes
Corrupted firmware, failed EEPROM chip, power surge damage, incorrect replacement control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the air conditioner before working on the control compartment.
Steps:
- Hard reset: Disconnect power for at least 10–15 minutes. Press and hold the power button (if accessible) for 10 seconds while unplugged to help discharge internal circuits, then reconnect and test.
- Check for recent changes: If the control board was recently replaced, confirm that the main control PCB is the correct version for your NewAir model and voltage.
- Inspect for surge damage: Look for burn marks or damaged components on the control board. If present, replacement is required.
- Board replacement: EEPROM faults are not field-repairable. Replace the main control PCB with an OEM NewAir part. Transfer any wiring harnesses one by one to avoid miswiring.
- Use surge protection: After replacement, plug the unit into a quality surge protector to reduce the risk of future EEPROM corruption.
