Possible Causes
Failed evaporator thermistor, sensor dislodged from coil, wiring harness damage, control board sensor circuit fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the evaporator coil.
Steps:
- Access evaporator: Remove front housing to expose the cold evaporator coil.
- Check sensor placement: Ensure the evaporator temperature sensor is firmly clipped to the coil tubing or fins. Reattach if loose.
- Inspect wiring: Look for nicks, cuts, or pinched sections in the sensor wire.
- Test sensor: Measure resistance at room temperature and compare to other NTC sensors. Replace if readings are abnormal.
- Replace sensor: Install a new OEM NewAir evaporator sensor and secure it in the correct location on the coil.
- Control board: If F2 persists with a good sensor, replace the main control PCB.
