Possible Causes
Open or shorted condenser thermistor, sensor not attached to coil, wiring damage near hot coil, defective control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power. The condenser coil and nearby tubing can be hot; allow cooling time.
Steps:
- Access condenser: Remove rear or side panel to expose the warm condenser coil.
- Locate sensor: Find the condenser temperature sensor clipped to the coil or discharge line.
- Inspect and secure: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached and not dangling. Reclip if necessary.
- Test sensor: Measure resistance at ambient temperature. Replace if open, shorted, or clearly out of expected range.
- Check airflow: Clean dust from the condenser fins and verify the condenser fan is operating correctly; overheating can trigger F3.
- Replace parts: Install a new condenser sensor if faulty. If F3 continues, replace the main control PCB.
