Possible Causes
Failed indoor fan motor with feedback sensor, disconnected fan motor harness, blocked blower wheel, defective main control PCB fan driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Keep fingers clear of fan blades.
Steps:
- Check fan operation: In fan-only mode, observe whether the indoor blower starts and runs at all speeds. If it does not start, suspect the motor or capacitor.
- Inspect harness: Remove front cover and locate the indoor fan motor connector. Ensure it is fully seated and wires are intact.
- Spin test: With power off, spin the blower wheel by hand. It should move freely. If stiff or scraping, remove debris and check for bent housing.
- Motor test: Measure motor winding resistance and check for continuity to ground. Replace the motor if windings are open or shorted.
- Replace motor or board: If the motor is faulty, install a new OEM NewAir indoor fan motor. If the motor tests good but F4 persists, the main control PCB fan driver or feedback circuit may be defective.
