Possible Causes

Open or shorted room NTC sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Corroded connector on main control board, Failed main PCB temperature input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the air conditioner from the mains before opening any panels. Do not work on live circuits.

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect and test. Sometimes E1 is a transient sensor reading error.
  • Access the front sensor: On many Olimpia Splendid portable and split units, the room NTC is located behind the front grille near the air intake. Remove the front filter and grille (usually a few screws or clips).
  • Inspect the sensor: Look for a small probe or bead-type sensor attached to the evaporator intake area. Check for broken insulation, corrosion, or if it has fallen out of its clip.
  • Check wiring and connectors: Follow the sensor leads back to the main PCB. Ensure the plug is fully seated and there are no pinched or cut wires. Reseat the connector.
  • Measure resistance (advanced): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the board and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~25°C), most Olimpia Splendid NTCs read around 5–20 kΩ. A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
  • Replace the sensor if faulty: Order a compatible "Room NTC sensor" for your exact Olimpia Splendid model. Mount it in the original position and route the cable away from sharp edges and hot components.
  • If sensor tests OK: The fault may be on the main PCB’s sensor input. Inspect the board for burn marks or corrosion. If present, the main control board will likely need replacement by a qualified technician.
