Possible Causes
Failed condenser NTC sensor, Sensor not in contact with condenser coil, Broken sensor wiring, Defective main PCB sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. For split systems, isolate power at the outdoor disconnect. Outdoor units may have moving fan blades.
- Access outdoor coil: Remove the top or side cover of the outdoor unit (for split systems) or rear panel (for portable/monobloc units) to expose the condenser coil.
- Locate condenser sensor: Look for a probe clipped to the condenser tubing or fins. On Olimpia Splendid outdoor units, it is often attached near the middle of the coil.
- Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped or taped to the coil. Reattach if loose using the original clip or thermal tape.
- Inspect cable and connector: Trace the sensor cable to the outdoor PCB or junction box. Look for UV damage, rodent bites, or loose plugs. Reseat connectors.
- Test resistance: With power off, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to expected NTC values; open or short readings indicate failure.
- Replace sensor if faulty: Install a new "Condenser NTC sensor" compatible with your Olimpia Splendid model. Secure it tightly to the coil for accurate readings.
- If sensor is OK but E3 remains: The outdoor control board may be defective. Due to high-voltage and refrigerant components nearby, have a qualified technician test and replace the PCB if needed.
