Possible Causes
Defective defrost NTC sensor, Sensor detached from outdoor coil, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty outdoor PCB sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before opening the outdoor unit.
- Locate defrost sensor: On Olimpia Splendid heat pump models, the defrost sensor is attached to the outdoor coil tubing.
- Check attachment: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped or strapped to the coil. Reattach if loose.
- Inspect wiring: Look for cracked insulation or pulled wires, especially where they pass through metal openings.
- Test sensor: Disconnect and measure resistance. Replace if readings are open, shorted, or inconsistent with temperature.
- Replace sensor: Install a new "Defrost NTC sensor" and secure it in the same position.
- PCB fault: If F5 persists with a known-good sensor, the outdoor PCB may require replacement.
