Possible Causes

Faulty DC current sensor on outdoor PCB, Shorted compressor, Shorted outdoor fan motor, Damaged outdoor PCB power stage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Warning: This fault involves high-voltage DC circuits. Only proceed with basic visual checks. Detailed diagnosis should be done by a professional.

Basic checks:

  • 1. Power off: Turn off the breaker and outdoor isolator. Wait at least 10 minutes.
  • 2. Visual inspection: Remove outdoor panel and inspect the PCB for burnt marks, cracked components, or melted connectors. Check compressor and fan motor wiring for insulation damage.
  • 3. Fan motor check: Spin the outdoor fan blade by hand (power OFF). It should rotate freely without grinding. A seized fan can cause overcurrent.
  • 4. Wiring tightness: Ensure all power terminals (L, N) and compressor/fan connectors are tight.

Do not attempt to bypass sensors or run the unit with suspected shorts. If H16 persists, a technician should test compressor windings, fan motor, and the DC current sensor on the PCB and replace the faulty component.
