Possible Causes
Blocked outdoor coil, Faulty outdoor fan motor, Fan blade obstruction, Faulty outdoor PCB fan drive
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and outdoor isolator.
Steps:
- 1. Clear obstructions: Remove leaves, plastic bags, and debris from the outdoor grille and coil.
- 2. Clean coil surface: Gently brush dirt from the coil fins. For heavy dirt, use a low-pressure water spray from inside out, avoiding the PCB.
- 3. Check fan blade: Ensure the blade is not cracked or rubbing on the shroud. Spin by hand to confirm free movement.
- 4. Inspect fan motor wiring: Confirm connectors are secure and not burnt.
If the fan does not run when the unit is calling for cooling/heating, the fan motor or outdoor PCB likely needs replacement by a technician.
