Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain pan or hose, Improper indoor unit leveling, Algae or slime buildup in drain line, Cracked drain pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the unit and isolate power before removing covers. Beware of dripping water near electrical parts.
Steps:
- 1. Check filters and airflow: Dirty filters can cause excessive icing and water overflow. Clean filters thoroughly.
- 2. Inspect unit level: Use a spirit level to ensure the indoor unit is slightly tilted toward the drain side as per Panasonic installation instructions.
- 3. Clear drain line: Locate the drain hose outside. Use a wet/dry vacuum on the hose end to suck out sludge and debris. Alternatively, blow compressed air gently from the indoor side if accessible.
- 4. Clean drain pan: Remove the front cover and gently clean the drain pan with a soft brush and diluted bleach solution to remove algae. Rinse carefully without splashing the PCB.
If water leakage continues, the drain pan may be cracked or the internal drain connection misaligned, requiring disassembly by a technician.
